Leuze Ultrasonic Distance Sensors

Leuze Ultrasonic Distance Sensors use advanced technology to detect objects, even if they’re partly or fully transparent. These sensors can also measure distances accurately. Plus, they work well in dusty, hazy, or humid conditions. Choose Leuze Ultrasonic Distance Sensors for reliable detection in various environments.

Leuze Ultrasonic Distance Sensors

Leuze Ultrasonic Distance Sensor: 318 series

Objects can be detected regardless of their color or transmission properties. The output, whether current or voltage, can be set through either a cable or a teach button. Some models even offer both analog and digital outputs combined. To prevent overlapping signals, a maximum of 6 sensors can be synchronized using a single cable.

Devices with dual switching outputs come equipped with independent indicator diodes. An extra diode, specifically for indicating the detection range, makes installation more straightforward. There’s no need for sensor configuration owing to the built-in synchronization and multiplex capabilities. These sensors can operate effectively up to a range of 1,600 mm.

Leuze 330 Series

Leuze Ultrasonic Distance Sensors: 330 series

Perfect for identifying levels in liquids, granular materials, clear substances, and highly reflective items, these sensors provide distance data that are mostly unaffected by surface characteristics. The output, be it current or voltage, can be adjusted using a teach button. Options with a combination of both analog and digital outputs are also accessible.

To eliminate cross-interference, synchronization of an unlimited number of sensors can be achieved through a single cable. Separate indicator diodes are present, and there’s an added diode specifically for signifying the detection boundary, which streamlines the installation process. The sensors ensure top-notch accuracy with temperature compensation and boast an impressive operational range of up to 6,000 mm.

Leuze 418 Series

Leuze Ultrasonic Distance Sensors: 418 series

Color and transmission independent detection of objects, Current or voltage output configurable via PC software.

To avoid mutual interference, max. 10 sensors may be synchronized via one cable, Sensitivity, average value calculation, reduction of the response time, and outputs configurable via IO-Link, Teach button.

Leuze Ultrasonic Fork Sensor

Leuze Ultrasonic Fork Sensor: 430 series

Perfectly suited for identifying levels in liquids, granulated substances, transparent materials, and highly shiny objects, these sensors provide distance data that remains mostly unaffected by the nature of surfaces. They have a configurable current or voltage output, as well as a switching output that can be set via PC software.

To circumvent any cross-talk, up to 10 sensors can be harmonized through a single cable. Features such as sensitivity, average value computation, response time reduction, and output settings can be adjusted using the IO-Link and a teach button.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does an ultrasonic distance detector work?

Ultrasonic Distance Detector

How It Works:

An ultrasonic distance detector uses sound waves to measure distance. It sends out sound waves and listens for them to bounce back.

Sending Waves:

The device has a transmitter that sends out sound waves. These waves are very high-pitched, beyond human hearing.

Receiving Waves:

After sending, there’s a receiver that listens. It waits for the sound waves to return after hitting an object.

Calculating Distance:

The device notes the time taken for the wave to return. Using this time, it calculates the distance to the object.

Uses:

These detectors are used in many gadgets. For example, cars use them for parking sensors.

So, in simple terms, it’s like shouting in a valley and waiting for the echo. The longer the wait, the further away the mountain.

What is the distance limit for ultrasonic sensors?

Ultrasonic Sensor Distance Limit

About the Limit:

Ultrasonic sensors have a distance limit. This means they can only measure up to a certain distance.

The Typical Range:

Most common sensors measure between 2 centimeters to 4 meters. However, some can go a bit further.

Factors Affecting Limit:

The sensor’s design and the environment can change this limit. For example, obstacles or air conditions might reduce range.

So, while ultrasonic sensors are helpful, they have their limits. Always check the sensor’s specifications before use.

How does ultrasonic sensor detect?

Ultrasonic Sensor Detection

Sending Sound Waves:

An ultrasonic sensor sends out high-pitched sound waves. These waves are too high for our ears to hear.

Waiting for Echo:

After sending waves, the sensor listens. It waits for these waves to bounce back, called an “echo”.

Determining Distance:

The time taken for the echo helps the sensor. This time shows how far away an object is.

In short, an ultrasonic sensor “shouts” and waits for the “reply”. The reply time tells the object’s distance.
